Orange Ginger Carrot Juice

By Juliana Crimi, RD, MHSc January 13 2025

One of my favourite ways to use up produce—especially reduced options from the store—is to create this Orange Ginger Carrot Juice. Packed with the sweetness of oranges, the earthiness of carrots, and the zing of fresh ginger, it’s both delicious and nourishing.

However, I wanted to mention as a registered dietitian, I’d never tell someone they need to juice their fruits and vegetables to achieve their health goals.

Juicing isn’t a magical solution for your nutrition needs, but it can be a fun and flavourful way to enjoy a boost of vitamins and minerals.

Why You’ll Love This

  • Packed with nutrients: This juice is loaded with vitamin C, vitamin A, and antioxidants.
  • Minimal ingredients: You only need three ingredients to create a vibrant, refreshing drink.
  • Customizable: Adjust the ginger or dilute with water to suit your taste.
  • No waste: A great way to use up extra or reduced produce.

Why These Ingredients?

  • Oranges: Rich in vitamin C and natural sweetness, oranges form the base of this juice. They’re also hydrating and refreshing.
  • Carrots: A powerhouse of beta-carotene (vitamin A), carrots add natural sweetness and an earthy flavor.
  • Ginger: Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, ginger adds a spicy kick that complements the sweetness of the other ingredients.

Tips for Delicious Orange Ginger Carrot Juice

  • Select sweet oranges: Choose navel oranges for the best natural sweetness.
  • Adjust the ginger: If you’re not a fan of spice, use less ginger or omit it altogether.

Substitutions, Variations, and Dietary Restrictions

  • Substitutions: Swap oranges for mandarins or grapefruits for a different citrus flavor. Use turmeric root instead of ginger for an earthy twist.
  • Variations: Add a small apple or cucumber for extra flavour and nutrients.
  • Dietary restrictions: This recipe is naturally vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free.
