Ingredient Highlights

Oats: Provide slow-digesting carbs and fibre to keep you full and energized all morning.

Chia seeds: Help thicken the oats while adding fibre and healthy fats.

Applesauce: Adds natural sweetness, moisture, and that classic apple flavour.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • ⅔ cup milk of choice
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)
  • Dash of salt

Topping: extra applesauce and diced apples

Instructions

  1. In a jar or container, combine oats, chia seeds, cinnamon, maple syrup (if using), and salt.
  2. Stir in applesauce and milk until everything is well mixed.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  4. In the morning, stir and top with a spoonful of applesauce before serving.

Storage

Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Add a splash of milk before serving if the mixture becomes too thick.

Variations

  • Apple pie version: Add a sprinkle of nutmeg and top with crushed walnuts.
  • Protein boost: Stir in your favourite vanilla protein powder.
  • Chunky apple: Mix in small diced apple pieces instead of (or in addition to) applesauce.

FAQs: Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats

Can I use steel-cut oats?

Steel-cut oats won’t soften enough overnight. Stick with rolled oats for the best texture.

Can I add Greek yogurt?

Absolutely — it’ll make the oats even creamier and higher in protein.

Can I use homemade applesauce?

Yes! It works great!
